We get it, the big wide, totally complicated world of Beyblades can be daunting to some parents. Your child throws words at you such as, ‘Fafnir’ and ‘Spriggan’, and to you these may just sound like a list of mythical creatures - that’s actually because they are based on them!
So, here’s a bit of history on them to start with -
Beyblade’s are spinning top toys originally developed and first released in Japan in July 1999. The Beyblade Burst series debuted in 2015, followed by Beyblade Burst Evolution, Beyblade Burst Turbo, and most recently Beyblade Burst Rise. They are customisable, with interchangeable parts and are now manufactured by many different companies under an array of different brands. Both the toys and their names were inspired by a traditional spinning top. The concept is similar to Battling Tops, a board game developed by Ideal Toy Company in 1968.
Secondly, when your child asks you to play or ‘battle’ with them you can battle in confidence with these simple and easy to follow instructions -
The game is played with two players or more. Each player is allowed up to three Beyblades to choose from during a match. A Battle Royale is where three or more players play. The last top spinning wins. Points are awarded to the player based on how their Beyblade knocks out their opponent's Beyblade:
In the event of a draw (both Beyblades are knocked out of the ring, stop spinning simultaneously, or burst at the same time), no points are awarded to either player.
Finally, a short overview on the different types, so next time your kid asks you for one - they sure won’t be disappointed!
